Who are Space2face Shetland?

Space2face is a Creative Restorative Practices organisation. We work with those who've been harmed by crime and other incidents of harm (victims, survivors). We also work with those responsible for causing harm (offenders, perpetrators), as well as others affected by what has happened - the families and communities linked to the person harmed and the person responsible. Our service is free and available to people of all ages.

Space2face was co-founded in 2008 by Alyson Halcrow and Clair Aldington, in conjunction with Justice Social Work and the Children’s Reporter (the Scottish referral system for young people at risk of harm or offending). We all saw the need and had a passion for developing a Restorative Practices service in Shetland. We became an independent charitable organisation in 2016. We are managed by a board of trustees and are proud that our board has always included former clients who have been harmed through crime. In 2016, we received a Restorative Practice UK Award for our creative approaches to Restorative Justice (criminal justice category).

We are a unique project in the UK as we use creativity, the arts, and the making and gifting of things within our Restorative Practices. You don't have to be creative or arty to use our service! We've just learned that through making things with our hands, talking about difficult things sometimes becomes easier. Take a look at some of the items people have made and gifted through Space2face Shetland.
